Scarlett, Aged 23, 2023

I was picking up my son, who was 1 1/2 and in a pram, from childcare. We were walking down Penrose Avenue towards Vicarage Lane, and were approached by a guy on a bike in a full balaclava. I didn’t wanna look him in the eye because he immediately made me feel uncomfortable, but I caught his glance and he was staring right at us, he had bright blue eyes. I hoped that that would be the end of it. However as we continued to walk down Vicarage Lane towards the roundabout between Vicarage Lane and Rectory Road, he came up beside me and proceeded to look me up-and-down. He then crossed at the roundabout and stood at the end of Crossland Road, staring at us without taking his eyes off us for about five minutes, it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe, because it was a really busy time, three o’clock on a school day. I stayed on the other side of the road because I did not want to go down a quiet street alone and I waited until a member of family could be on the phone to me. He then left when I got my phone out and rode his bike onto Crossland Road Park , I have reported it to the police and they were unable to help. However, we are now aware of where he lives. Since that day, I have not left my house alone with my son without my partner and I am yet to leave my house after dusk.
