Aged 16
2017
My younger male friend was (thankfully) walking me home through Hope Street Park in the later evening. We saw an older man in the middle of the park must’ve been late 30s at the time with a girl who I knew and was 16. He was stood over her and she was almost unconscious on the ground, we asked if she needed help because we assumed he’d come across her like this as well.
We realised he was on drugs and had gotten her drunk and/or spiked her, as I couldn’t really get anything cohesive from what she was saying but I helped her sit up so she could throw up as he become agitated and violent in his panic being caught with a young girl. He started to get in my face saying if anything happens to her I’d be in trouble and he’d come for me.
Seeing this girl made me mad and I know I’d have been scared if I hadn’t felt responsible for her, so I stood my ground and asked him what he was doing to her, that it was his fault and he shouldn’t be with an underage girl at night and I’d call the police. He told me she worked at the clinic he visited for recovery.
Thankfully I knew her enough to know she had a boyfriend and who he was and called him from her phone to come and get her. The guy scarpered eventually. I can only guess at what he had planned if no one would’ve come, I hope he hadn’t done anything already.
