Random spontaneous visits from family members usually come with long overdue amazing catch up (over a beverage and food typically), however this last visit we had chosen to visit the xxx xxx bar close. None of us had previously been and had hoped for a friendly, warm, caring environment based on feedback from others, unfortunately from the moment we arrived and survived the journey to the bar via the cloud of stoners, wobbly stairs and obnoxious noises and comments about my outfit, my daughters and my sisters. For a venue who promotes safe environment for everyone on the enterance my non-binary daughter was made to feel unwelcome by the staff and a lot of the patrons, due to her making her own choices for her own life and even after reporting an incident to security who actually did zero to help or provide assistance in stopping anymore opinions and thoughts being shared. After being told to speak to the owner or manager if we had felt intimidated or threatened as he wasn’t responsible for the behaviour of staff or patrons and follows all security protocols set out by the security company he works for, Noctua.
It was so humiliating for my daughter we all left, I was annoyed by how my concerns were handled so I returned the following day and spoke with xxx, Bar Manager, initially we had similar views and both agreeing that my daughters experience was venomous for a bar that says it is a safe place for everyone. After waiting for several hours for the owner to arrive I noticed similar issues occurring with no attempt to correct or change, the owner unfortunately didn’t have time to speak to me due to being short staffed. I have been back twice since and both times it was obvious that I was being made to wait until I had to leave before the owner would then suddenly have a small amount of time to address the toxic environment that she owns. Both times the bar manager was also offering to “get whatever” I wanted. A simple weekend catching up with family was all I wanted but our visit to the bae was probably not the ideal location
