Catcalled, Verbally Abused and Physically Abused

October 2024 – May 2025

I was unfortunate enough to be working at the Bar during the Young Farmers event. Not only has this venue shown continuous lack of care for the staff and complete ignorance to the issues that they create, but they were heavily unprepared for this weekend. During my time at the bar, women were used as sex symbols, despite the company denying any of these claims. There were discussions of staff being told that they could charge men extra for Hurricane Shots (In which they would be required to throw water at a customer and slap them in the face), and during Young Farmers they were told they could spit in customers drinks/mouths for an extra charge of £10, in which the girls received £5 of it. There is considerable lack of support amongst the girls and constant drama and pressure to be better than your coworkers. During Young Farmers weekend staff received no breaks, no food and multiple staff were taken away in ambulances. Girls were being sent into an over capacity crowd to attempt to seek merchandise, in which a young girl was trampled and sent in an ambulance. During the weekend I was spat on, had derogatory remarks made towards me and even had a plastic cup full of urine thrown at me. There was no where near enough door staff to deal with all the issues that happened, and the girls should not have been permitted to dance on top of the bar for many health and safety reasons. This bar was created to empower women, and all I have seen during my time there were women being dragged down by their own coworkers and being told to sexualise themselves in order to make more money.
