I was in town with my son. I use a mobility scooter. I confronted a man who was hurling racist abuse at a group of young men of colour. He said I should be taken out and that I was a traitor. I gave him verbally some of his own medicine and did not back down. My son was safely near to me but knows not to interfere when I’m angry. He only intervened when the man came towards me with a fist raised. The man made motions of shooting me in the head and went off over the road. I apologised to the young men that people are like this and apologised for my language which made them smile. My son said he thought there was going to be blood and not mine. I’m not scared of these people but I get upset when they scare women and children. My son who doesn’t live here just worries I will be arrested. Thanks so much for giving people a voice here x
